Kids Play

by April Coble

It doesn't take an expensive new game or toy to get the attention of a child. Most of the time love, creativity, and the attention of Mom or Dad will be all their hearts desire! Enjoy these Giggly Games for those cold or rainy days!

Null

Clothespin Drop

Collect clothespins and a series of jars with mouth openings of varying widths. The children can stand near the jar and drop the clothespins into it. To ensure success, the younger children should be guided to try the jar with the largest opening.

Bean Bag Toss

Bean bags can be tossed into empty laundry baskets, or boxes, or even trash cans.  This is great for teaching them to throw away things!

Bowling Game

Set up pins or plastic bottles. With a ball, have the children take turns knocking down the pins.

Nature's Art

Fall is a great time of the year to play out side! It is also a really fun time to make natural art. Have your little ones pick out some brightly colored leaves and get creative! Give them some paper, string, glue and glitter and see what beautiful creations they can come up with.

Guess What?

Make guessing fun! Find several objects around the house and place them in a brown paper bag. Let the children take turns picking out objects and have them use their sights and sounds to try and guess what it is. This is always fun for everyone playing.

It's Freeze Dance time!!!

Play your child's favorite tape and when the music stops, so does all movement. Dance all over while the music plays, when it doesn't, FREEZE! This is also a great way to clean up toys. But don't forget, when the music stops, so do you!

When I Grow Up....

Role playing is an excellent learning tool for children. It encourages their creativity and expands their imagination. Did you ever put chairs in the middle of a room and cover the tops of them to make a house, or a castle, or whatever a child's mind could think of? Well, suggest this idea to your children and let them choose the setting. See what other ordinary things you can find around the house to add to the fun. Don't just watch, get down in the floor and play!
