Why we are:
Mother's Nature exists to support and encourage new mothers.

We feel strongly that mothering is the most important job there is, bar none. We promote attachment-style parenting, which is explained beautifully in a passage from Attachment Parenting: Instinctive Care for Your Baby and Young Child by Katie Allison Granju:

Attachment parenting acquired its name in recognition of the beauty and critical importance of a secure attachment between parent and young child. Attachment parenting practices -- such as long-term breastfeeding and sleeping with your baby -- easily and naturally assist in the development of this crucial love-bond. But perhaps the most important thing to remember about attachment parenting is that it is more than the sum of its parts. It isn't just a simple list of parenting tools. Many women who breastfeed do not practice attachment parenting, while some parents who have never used a baby sling do. Attachment parenting is a way of thinking about your child and your relationship with her. It is a belief that your child is to be trusted that she knows what she needs at each developmental stage. It is a willingness to be truly physically and emotionally present for your child. And it is a respect for the value of your role as her parent and for the sensitive bond that you share with her. Experienced attachment parents who have seen their children through early childhood and beyond describe this gentle nurturing style as a truly fulfilling way of life.

A bit of history:
Mother's Nature was founded in June of 1997 by Rob and Danie Feica-Noll as a retail site offering slings and nursing clothes. At that time, their son Aidan was a tiny baby of 4 months who nursed and nursed and nursed, giving Rob and Danie lots of time to work at the computer!

A lot has happened in the meantime! The focus of the site eventually changed to encompass community and support, rather than sales. In July of 1999, Rob and Danie passed the reins over to Paula Bobbett. Paula, owner of The Nursing Baby. Paula continues to build the communities at Mother's Nature, to bring its visitors more parenting information.

Today, Mother's Nature is a busy, thriving community of parents and parents-to-be with a common goal: to give our children the best and to support each other while we do it.
